TOURS ARE CURRENTLY SUSPENDED DUE TO COVID-19

We’d love to show you firsthand exactly how our facility works!

Please read the guidelines below to make sure we can accommodate your group’s needs. Then, if you’d like to request a tour, please fill out the Tour Request Form on the CSWD website. (CSWD staff conduct the tours.)

We look forward to seeing you at Green Mountain Compost!

Group Size and Ages

We will provide tours of GMC for any group of at least 6 and at most 20 people, age 8 and older. These group size and age requirements are due to safety concerns and are not negotiable. If your group is larger than 20 (including chaperones), we will need to schedule two tours to accommodate everyone in your group.

Scheduling

Green Mountain Compost tours are by appointment only, are scheduled year-round according to staff availability during the facility’s normal operating hours, and can take from thirty minutes to an hour.

Safety Requirements

We require closed-toe shoes and suggest that all participants wear shoes that cover the entire foot. Anyone wearing sandals, flip-flops, Croc-type clogs or other strappy/open shoes will not be allowed on the tour. We will provide safety vests, which must be worn at all times. Tours are completely outdoors and take place regardless of the weather. You should also keep in mind that compost can be dirty business—you’ll be happier with footwear and clothing that’s weather-appropriate and isn’t fazed by mud, dust or rotten tomatoes.
